Instantaneous Center of Zero and Known Velocities

Instantaneous center of zero velocity

The instantaneous center of zero velocity (IC), may be identified by keeping the following two things in mind.

  • The velocity at any point on an object is always perpendicular to its position vector as measured from the IC.
  • The velocities are proportional to the distance that the point is from the IC.
